In All Things New is beautifully written in a form that kept me wanting to read on and on. It is the story of Penny Rose who has grown up, virtually alone, going from one fostor home to another with no direction or love to keep her stable or allow for a feeling of family. Finally she comes up with a plan to make a change, which I won't go further in describing because I think it would take away from the reading. But once she has the plan in place and as time goes on, her life goes from sad to something very unexpected. With many bird references which make this novel so unique, flight and fancy seem to follow Penny through her life.
I love how this book flows with beautiful form and such grace. At first with the narrative jumping between three perspectives, I was a little confused but once I began to get the feel for the story and characters then I had no problem following the story. Also a warning, I didn't realize this before reading but she does write about a rape and abuse and it is very graphic but done in a tasteful way. This would be the only negative things I could say about the book.
